Deputy Logistics Manager

CCL are working on behalf of an International Oil Company to hire a Deputy Logistics Manager to be based in Basra. ***Pease only apply if you are an Iraqi citizen or hold dual Iraqi nationality*** As part of the nationalization programme, we are seeking an experienced Deputy Logistics Manager to support the overall management of logistics operations, with responsibility across materials management, transportation, imports and exports, hazardous goods, construction logistics and site operations. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, site-focused logistics professional with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills. They should have a strong understanding of the client perspective and be comfortable managing both the operational and contractual aspects of logistics services. Key Responsibilities • Support the Logistics Manager in the overall management and coordination of logistics operations. • Manage and oversee materials management, transportation of goods, machinery and equipment movements. • Coordinate imports, exports and customs-related activities, ensuring compliance with relevant requirements. • Manage the transportation and handling of hazardous goods, ensuring appropriate safety procedures are followed. • Support logistics requirements for construction and civil works, including preparation for construction activities and mobilisation of resources. • Manage the contractual and commercial aspects of logistics services, ensuring contractors and service providers deliver against agreed requirements. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, site teams and other key stakeholders. • Maintain a strong focus on road safety and transportation safety, ensuring safe working practices across logistics operations. • Provide hands-on leadership and support to logistics teams working on site. • Regularly engage with site personnel, understand operational challenges and provide practical solutions. • Lead, mentor and develop logistics personnel, promoting a strong safety and performance culture. • Support the planning and execution of logistics activities throughout the project lifecycle. • Ensure logistics activities are aligned with client requirements, project schedules and operational priorities. Candidate Requirements • Extensive experience across multiple areas of logistics, ideally having progressed from supply chain/materials roles into broader logistics management. • Strong experience in materials management, transportation, imports/exports, hazardous goods and construction logistics. • Demonstrable experience managing the contractual elements of logistics services and third-party contractors. • Strong understanding of road safety and logistics risk management. • Experience working closely with site teams and operational personnel. • Strong stakeholder management and people leadership skills. • A hands-on and practical approach, with a willingness to spend time on site rather than operating purely from an office. • Ability to lead, mentor and develop teams effectively. • Strong understanding of the client mindset, with the ability to manage contractors and services from a client perspective. • IOC experience is not essential, although experience within major projects, oil & gas, construction, industrial or similar environments would be advantageous.
