Location: Baghdad – Al-Mansour Working Hours: 9 hours / 5 Days per week Job Type: Full-time - On-site Reports To: Development Manager Seniority level: Sr-Level Job Summary Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable backend systems while optionally contributing to frontend development as a full-stack developer. Provide technical leadership, mentor junior and mid-level developers, and contribute to the company’s long-term technology strategy. Grow into a Team Lead role with responsibility for guiding the development team and ensuring high-quality software delivery. Main Duties and Responsibilities: • Architect scalable, distributed, and high-availability backend systems. • Define and enforce coding standards, architectural patterns, and best practices. • Lead decisions on microservices, domain-driven design (DDD), data modeling, and integration strategy. • Build complex backend modules involving advanced business logic, multi-threading, and performance-sensitive features. • Engineer secure APIs and services that handle high traffic and large datasets. • Implement robust system integrations with external platforms, identity services, and messaging systems. • Conduct deep performance analysis, memory profiling, and resource optimization. • Implement caching strategies, load balancing, and horizontal scaling. • Ensure system resilience through retry patterns, circuit breakers, fallback logic, and event-driven architecture. • Enforce high-level security standards including encryption, token management, access control, and secure API development. • Perform regular audits, code reviews, and compliance checks (ISO, GDPR, etc.). • Oversee disaster recovery and data protection policies at the backend level. • Define testing strategies including TDD, automation, integration, and load testing. • Ensure high coverage and reliability through robust automated pipelines. • Review complex code contributions and lead quality-improvement initiatives. • Mentor and guide mid-level and junior developers across multiple teams. • Lead architecture discussions, technical planning sessions, and project estimations. • Introduce modern tools, technologies, and frameworks that enhance backend capabilities. • Work closely with product owners, UI/UX, DevOps, and frontend architects. • Translate business requirements into technical solutions with clear timelines. • Provide risk assessment, feasibility analysis, and optimal solution recommendations. • Evaluate emerging technologies and integrate them where applicable. • Contribute to internal frameworks, libraries, and reusable components. • Help shape technical strategies for long-term system evolution. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. • 5 years of backend development experience with proven leadership and architectural responsibilities. • Fluency in English and Arabic (Written and spoken) • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities. • High accountability, ownership, and strategic thinking.
