Safety Compliance Manager

Role: Head of Safety & Compliance (Ground Handling) Location: Karbala, Iraq Department: Ground Handling / SMS Reporting To: Ground Handling Manager Experience: 12–15 years (4–6 years in leadership) Employment Type: Full-Time Interview: Virtual / Onsite Visa: Sponsored for expats Role Overview You will lead Safety, Quality, and Compliance for Ground Handling operations by setting up and managing SMS (Safety Management System) and QMS (Quality Management System). The role covers both pre-launch setup and post-launch operations, ensuring compliance with ISAGO and aviation safety standards. Key Responsibilities Pre-Launch • Set up SMS & QMS frameworks • Build Safety & Compliance team, processes, and structure • Develop SOPs, manuals, and procedures aligned with ISAGO • Support hiring and coordinate with IT & internal teams • Ensure department readiness before operations start Post-Launch • Lead safety, quality, and compliance programs • Ensure compliance with aviation regulations & airline standards • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations • Implement corrective & preventive actions • Manage Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and drills • Drive continuous improvement and safety culture • Coordinate training and stakeholder alignment • Report performance to senior management Key Skills Required • Strong Safety & Compliance Management • Hands-on SMS & QMS implementation • Expertise in ISAGO standards • Experience in ground handling setup/operations • Risk management, audits & investigation skills Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree (Aviation / Safety preferred) Benefits • 45 days annual leave • 4 round-trip air tickets/year • Accommodation, meals, and laundry provided • Health insurance (Iraq) • 6 working days/week | 8 hours/day
