Company Description Northern Technical University is a public polytechnic university in Iraq, established in the 2014–2015 academic year, with origins dating back to the founding of the Technical College in Basra in 1994. The university comprises five technical colleges and 15 technical institutes located across the governorates of Nineveh, Kirkuk, and Salah al-Din. The main campus is in Mosul, with additional administrative and alternative sites currently used due to local circumstances. Role Description The Assistant Professor role is a full-time, on-site academic position located in Nineveh Governorate, Iraq. The role involves teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses, preparing syllabi and instructional materials, delivering lectures and practical sessions, assessing student performance, and providing academic advising and mentorship. The Assistant Professor is expected to conduct scholarly research, publish in relevant academic journals, participate in conferences, and contribute to the development of the academic program and curriculum. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with colleagues on departmental initiatives, serving on committees, supporting quality assurance activities, and engaging in community and industry outreach that aligns with the university’s technical and professional mission. The role may also include supervising student projects and theses and supporting laboratory or workshop activities where applicable. Qualifications • Advanced academic qualification (preferably a PhD) in a relevant technical, engineering, applied sciences, or related discipline from a recognized institution. • Demonstrated teaching ability in higher education, including experience designing courses, delivering lectures, leading practical sessions, and assessing student learning outcomes. • Proven research record or clear potential, evidenced by publications, conference participation, or ongoing research projects in an area aligned with the university’s academic focus. • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to teach and collaborate effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment. • Commitment to student-centered learning, academic integrity, and inclusive, non-discriminatory educational practices. • Ability to contribute to departmental and university service, including committee work, curriculum development, and quality assurance processes. • Experience or interest in technical and vocational education, industry collaboration, or applied research relevant to regional development is highly beneficial. • Willingness to work on-site in Nineveh Governorate and to adapt to local institutional and cultural contexts.
