Sourcing & Procurement Specialist

Black Star is looking for a highly organized, commercially focused Sourcing & Procurement Specialist based in Baghdad to support our sales, operations, and project teams. The role is responsible for identifying and managing suppliers, obtaining competitive quotations, negotiating commercial terms, optimizing procurement and logistics costs, and ensuring fast turnaround of sourcing and pricing requests. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing a large number of vendors, and traveling within Baghdad and other locations in Iraq when required to meet suppliers, inspect products, follow up on orders, and develop stronger vendor relationships. Key Responsibilities • Source products and services from local and international vendors, distributors, manufacturers, and partners. • Obtain, compare, and evaluate quotations based on price, delivery, payment terms, warranty, and commercial conditions. • Negotiate pricing, discounts, payment terms, lead times, and delivery conditions. • Continuously identify opportunities to reduce procurement, freight, logistics, and overall project costs. • Provide accurate and timely pricing and budget information to the sales team. • Handle multiple RFQs and sourcing requests simultaneously with fast turnaround. • Identify alternative suppliers when pricing, availability, or lead time is not competitive. • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors across Iraq. • Travel locally to meet vendors, negotiate terms, inspect products, and follow up on procurement activities. • Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping companies, customs brokers, and local logistics providers. • Manage shipping, customs, and delivery requirements into and within Iraq. • Build, maintain, and continuously expand a structured vendor and supplier database. • Maintain supplier information, quotations, sourcing activities, and opportunities using Odoo CRM and related systems. • Communicate continuously with vendors and internal teams through email, phone, WhatsApp, and other communication channels. • Follow up on quotations, purchase orders, shipments, and deliveries until completion. • Work closely with Sales, Finance, Solutions, and Operations teams. • Monitor supplier performance, delivery reliability, pricing competitiveness, and responsiveness. Qualifications & Skills • Experience in sourcing, procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or vendor management. • Strong negotiation and commercial skills. • Knowledge of the Iraqi supplier market and local vendor ecosystem. • Knowledge of logistics, international shipping, freight, customs, and delivery processes in Iraq. • Willingness and ability to travel locally to meet vendors and suppliers. • Ability to work with both local and international suppliers. • Strong Excel and quotation comparison skills. • Experience using CRM or ERP systems; Odoo experience is preferred. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Arabic and English proficiency preferred. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to manage a large number of vendors, quotations, and simultaneous requests. • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. • Proactive, agile, persistent, and results-oriented. Experience sourcing IT equipment, software, industrial equipment, engineering products, electrical products, chemicals, or project-related materials is an advantage.
